FAQs - Zenith's filtration technology
Do I really have to change my filter every 6 to 12 months?
As soon as water starts being filtered by our MicroPurity filter, the maximum life of the product is 12 months (depending on frequency of use). After that, contaminants in your drinking water will start increasing as the filter performance declines, which is not always noticeable by taste. You may notice some changes to your HydroTap eg the internal tank inside the HydroTap command centre may start taking longer to fill.
What does the Zenith MicroPurity filter remove?
Our 0.2 micron filtration (MicroPurity sizes 1 and 1.5, product codes 93701NZ & 93702NZ) is certified to reduce 99.4% of Total PFAS and the 8 most harmful contaminants, including the ones you can’t see, smell or taste including Microplastics, Asbestos, Cryptosporidium and Giardia, Chlorine taste and odour, Bacteria, Sediment and Limescale.
Does the Zenith MicroPurity filter remove fluoride?
Fluoride, which is soluble, is not removed during filtration with Zenith MicroPurity filtration. The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) recommends community water fluoridation as a safe, effective and ethical way to help reduce tooth decay.
What happens if I don’t change the filter in my Zenith HydroTap?
You may notice some changes to your HydroTap eg the internal tank inside the HydroTap command centre may start taking longer to fill. Contaminants in your drinking water may start increasing as the filter performance declines, which is not always noticeable by taste.
It has been under 12 months since changing my filter and the filter change light/alert has appeared. Should I wait to replace my filter?
For higher volume users, the filter may need changing more frequently, based on the amount of water that passes through the filter. We recommend changing the filter when the alert light turns on.
I’m not sure how to change the filter in my HydroTap command centre. What should I do?
We would love to help! Request a filter change online by booking a service, where our certified service technician will change the filter for you. We also offer service plans called HydroCare, where our service technician can look after your HydroTap at scheduled regular intervals, including filter changes.
What does 0.2-micron filtration mean?
Zenith MicroPurity uses the latest filtration technology to filter and reduce impurities and potentially harmful contaminants larger than 0.2 microns in size – an impurity that will fit 250 times into a strand of hair.
I prefer to use compatible filter cartridges in my HydroTap. Why should I use the Zenith branded filter?
When choosing a water filter for your Zenith product, you need to ensure that it is certified to removing contaminants in your water. A compatible filter may fit into the command centre however if a performance claim is being made, make sure it is also tested and verified to AS/NZS 4348:1995 – this relates to performance testing – it is specific to filters, and it certifies and verifies that your filter will reduce impurities and potentially harmful contaminants. Genuine Zenith MicroPurity filters are tested and certified to NSF Standard 42 (Aesthetic Effects) and 53 (Health Effects) to ensure they meet the highest standards.
Why has the label changed on my MicroPurity filter?
Zenith is evolving the label design across our range of MicroPurity filters. The new look filters will start to appear in store, in new products and online from March 2024. As we transition, you may see both old and new versions of our Zenith MicroPurity filters range. However, the triple action filtration technology inside the filters will not be changing, so you can feel confident purchasing our Zenith genuine filters. See here for more information.
The filter I purchased is called 7 in 1 and does not mention PFAS.
Zenith MicroPurity filters in a 1 size and 1.5 size (93701NZ & 93702NZ) have been independently certified to reduce PFAS and can be viewed online - IAPMO R&T Product Listing.
We are in the process of transitioning our label designs for the MicroPurity filters to reflect the latest certifications, with our 8 in 1 labels hitting the New Zealand market from January 2026.
In the meantime, if you have purchased a 1 size or 1.5 size MicroPurity filter (93701NZ and 93702NZ), it has been certified to reduce the 8 most harmful contaminants, even the ones you can’t see, smell or taste, including PFAS and microplastics.
